By Dave Gorski

With all of the energy usage awareness going around, a cordless lawn mower is becoming a popular option for many consumers. Also, it is becoming a smarter decision as models are constantly updated and technology furthers in its advancement, for they are becoming more and more efficient at cutting grass.

With a cordless battery powered lawn mower, there is usually a high efficiency battery that allows the machine to function. These will usually cost a bit more than a gasoline powered mower, but these function from electricity, so there is no need to purchase gasoline. This makes everything in the process a lot simpler than it would usually be. However, a battery may need to be replaced after long, continued use of the battery powered mower.

Usually, a 12-volt rechargeable battery is used. Overall, these kinds of mowers provide the maneuverability that a gasoline powered mower has while also staying very environmentally conscious. For the environmentally conscious consumer, these kind of battery powered lawn mower is the best available.

There are also nontraditional kinds of battery powered mowers available. These are types such as the hover mowers or the robotic mowers. A hover mower uses a turbine that enables a spinning blade to go downwards, creating an air cushion that is able to raise it off of the ground. Therefore, it is able to easily move across the lawn, functioning from electric power. The robotic mower will actually mow the entire lawn on its own. There is an invisible border that is set up, and then the mower will automatically cut the designated area. There are several safety features built into this kind of device, so there is no need to worry about possible injury. These are able to cut up to 5 acres at a time, and they automatically return to their recharging docks when needed. There is also the option of having several of these robotic mowers being used at once in order to cut a large area.

There are many different kinds of battery powered mowers available to choose from, but it is important to choose the one that best pertains to the household.
