Dyson DC25 Ball All-Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review

Dyson DC25 Ball All-Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner ReviewBy Lee Harris

The Dyson DC25 Ball All-Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner is a machine that utilizes Dyson Ball technology for smooth maneuvering and comes with Root Cyclone technology to ensure that there is no clogging or loss of power. Outfitted with a telescopic wand, motorized brush-bar, lifetime HEPA filter, and on-board tool kit, the Dyson DC25 Ball All-Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner is a good value at $499. A 5-year warranty on parts and labor is also included.

The Dyson DC25 Ball All-Floors Upright is a machine that has terrific suction and a lot of features. The telescopic wand extends the reach of the cleaner to about 16 feet, allowing access to ceilings as well as baseboards. The brush-bar has a switch that the operator can turn off when the hose attachment is in use. This is a nice feature because it prevents the brush-bar from over-beating the floor material underneath the vacuum. The motorized brush-bar is made with stiff bristles that agitate the carpet and bounce dirt straight into the vacuum cleaner.

The lifetime HEPA filter is washable and reduces the particles let back into the air by 150 times the ratio that went in. The 1/3 gallon hygienic collection bin empties by pressing a button and is meant to be a less messy way to empty a bin but experiences with some Dyson models have had a less than satisfactory rating with many cleaners reporting jamming and floating dust particles that seem to defy the effectiveness of the HEPA filter.

At a little over 16 lbs, the Dyson DC25 Ball All-Floors Upright is on the moderate side for weight. The 24 ft power cord is a bit short for anything other than small residential use and doesn't allow the operator enough distance to be able to go from area to area without having to unplug and replug the unit, wasting a lot of time and increasing the hassle of unplugging other electronic appliances. The reach of the vacuum cleaner extends to about 40 feet if the length of the extension wand and hose are taken into consideration with the length of the power cord.

The ball technology utilized in this model allows for more maneuverability, but can be hard to get used to. The ball glides over the flooring easily, but the motion tends to be very different from traditional vacuuming and can be too awkward for some cleaners to get used to. The proper vacuuming technique for a Dyson vacuum cleaner tends to be more like a side-to-side motion instead of the regular back and forth direction used by the majority of machines available on the market today. Some cleaners are comfortable with Dyson's ball technology and can get used to the difference while other consumers have been annoyed by its novel design and find little difference in the ergonomic switch in direction.

Overall, the Dyson DC25 is a powerful vacuum but it is not recommended for use on wool carpeting, oriental-type rugs or wood flooring because the suction can cause the machine to scratch across surfaces, damaging them in the process. The powerful suction has been known to rip individual fibers out from the carpet backing and can leaving bare spots and worn areas, especially on fine rugs and carpets made with wool.

Benefits of a Smoothie Maker to a Dieter

Benefits of a Smoothie Maker to a DieterBy Chad Damon

Fad diets have been dominating the world of weight loss. Bring up any topic about diet and a conversation would seem endless even for those bordering on skinny or emaciated. It has become a way of life and diet fanatics sometimes get tired of loading themselves with available information that they resort to their own ways. Starting off with gulping down fruit drinks perhaps by the liter has been a common starting point, as it has been said that filling yourself up with liquids would lessen your food intake, thus contributing to weight loss. But this is not the definition of a proper diet, especially if taken in wrong context. Overloading on liquids does make your stomach full and sends a wrong impression to your mind, bringing you into thinking that you do not need to eat. It would be a diet malpractice, which could lead to serious health problems.

Having the right amount of fluids - and food - in the body is more like it. Smoothies can be a good choice, as it is not pure juice. There are other ingredients that could prove beneficial to one's diet regimen. The power of smoothie makers to zap up a thick but refreshing drink could very well be part of your diet arsenal.

Indeed, smoothies are healthy drinks. Primarily composed of fruits, yogurt, ice and a little (non fat, definitely) milk - all are healthy options without giving you the guilty feel that fattening substances can give you. If you have a smoothie maker at home, you can always make your own and enjoy your home made treat. The yogurt and milk are sufficient sources of protein and an ample amount of your smoothie can put your hunger pangs on hold - enough to act as a snack in between meals or a dessert to keep you from coming to the fridge for a midnight snack.

Important thing to consider for dieters though is to stay away from the fancy concoctions with ice cream, chocolate or syrups. These are diet offenders and may even surpass the calorie and saturated fat count of a burger and fries meal. It is surprisingly easy to slurp down half a day's worth of calories and fat in a cup! But in case you are having that sugar rush, an occasional dose would almost certainly suffice, but never overdo it for you may just be defeating your purpose. You can always rely on your smoothie maker to help you carry out your diet plan.

Getting a smoothie maker is one of the best ways to include more healthy fruits and vegetables into your diet easily. If you prefer juice instead of a thick smoothie, machines like electric carrot juicers do a good job of separating the juice from the pulp.

Choosing a Condenser Tumble Dryer

Choosing a Condenser Tumble DryerBy Lindsay Coope

Not many of us look forward doing the laundry, and getting it dry on a wet weekend can leave us tearing our hair out. But pack away your clothes horses, reclaim your radiators, for the answer to your problems has arrived!

A condenser tumble dryer needs no plumbing - you simply plug it in and hey presto. There are compact models for those who are short on space. Most can simply be slotted on top of the washing machine. Because they don't require plumbing, a condenser tumble dryer can, in fact, be put virtually anywhere in the home. Its only real needs are sufficient ventilation and a power point. Modern condenser tumble dryers are quite quiet and much more unobtrusive than they once were.

Condenser tumble dryers need little maintenance. Their only maintenance requirements are emptying the lint tray and water, ideally after each load. This should go a long way to keeping your dryer happy, giving you years of hassle free laundry to (almost) look forward to!

When looking for a dryer, there are several key points to consider. First off, you'll need to look at load capabilities. Bigger is generally better, but take heed of your washing machine's load capabilities too. Your dryer's drum might be large enough to accommodate a duvet, but if your washing machine's isn't, this won't be of much use.

A great facility of most modern tumble dryers is the ironing program. This helps your clothes to come out less crinkly. In fact, if you hang your clothes as soon as you hear the beep, you'll find many garments don't need ironing at all! You will spend much less time getting the crinkles out of any item that does need a press. Good news for everyone!

Your condenser tumble dryer should have temperature settings. Cotton and natural fibres can take much higher temperatures than man made fibres, which can be damaged by a high heat. Most condenser tumble dryers now have special settings for delicates and wool, and a good dryer will feature a drying sensor to monitor your laundry's moistness and cut out at just the right level. If you'd be happier controlling this yourself, most feature a time setting too, which you can set to fit in with your schedule so that the dryer stops at the appropriate time.

The great news is that if you shop online for Condenser Tumble Dryers you can find unbeatable deals at great prices!

Why Should You Choose a Top Loading Or Front Loading Washing Machine?

By Andrew Mollison

The two types of washing machine, front loading, and the more traditional top loading washing machine, both have their advantages and disadvantages. But what are they, and why should you choose one over the other?
There are a lot of differences, so it's important, especially if you're looking at buying a new washing machine, to understand what will work best for you.

Front loading machines have a lot of benefits, it has to be said. They use a lot less detergent than a top loading machine, and require less use of water in order to run. In comparison, a top loading version has to fill the entire drum, which can be quite a height, and therefore a lot of water.

As well as the economical advantages of using less detergent and less water, a side loading washing machine is significantly less noisy as well. This is because it runs more delicately than a top loading variant, collecting the clothes together and submerging them with bubbly water. A top loading machine on the other hand will beat the clothing backwards and forwards with a central agitator. The lighter nature of the front loading washers also ensures that garments have a longer life span. With the louder and more violent nature of a top loader, it's also a habit for a top loading washing machine to, over time, become unbalanced and rock from side to side, which therefore increases the noise output further.

Alongside all this, a front loading washing machine can also fit better into a kitchen environment. On a top loader, all the top area of the washing machine is taken up by the door of the machine. In comparison, a front loading washing machine's top is almost entirely bare - making it useful for additional kitchen space if needed.
However, it's not all bad with a top loading washing machine. A front loading machine might have economical and environmental advantages in terms of using less water and detergent producing less noise, and giving your clothes a longer lifespan than a top loader - but, there are advantages of using a top loading machine too.

Ergonomically speaking, a top loader is a much better preference. With all your clothing being able to be loaded into the machine without having to bend down, it's perfect for those who might have back trouble, and is great for preventing back trouble in the future. It's therefore often the best choice for the elderly, where bending down to load a front loading machine might prove to be a difficult task.

Overall then, if you want to save money on detergent, water bills, and keep your clothes lasting longer, then a front loading machine is the way to go. If however you want to look after your back or if you have back troubles already, then definitely go with a top loading machine to avoid the pain and discomfort.
